I had the incredible honor and pleasure of hosting two inspiring researchers from UCLA for three days last week. Dr. Deborah Glik is a professor of community health sciences at the Fielding School of Public Health, an expert in risk communication and community interventions, and my mentor. Dr. Alma Guerrero is a rising star in Latino health: a pediatrician by training whose research focuses on developing culturally appropriate interventions to decrease obesity among Latino children. Thanks to UC Merced's Blum Center for Developing Economies - especially Dr. Steve Roussos - for organizing a series of talks for faculty and university staff to discuss how to support faculty who wish to engage with communities for diverse research topics and approaches.
